What We Believe

At First Pentecostal Church, our heart is to know God and walk with Him daily. We believe faith is more than a moment, it’s a life fully surrendered to Jesus Christ, grounded in His Word and empowered by His Spirit. As an Apostolic Pentecostal church, we are committed to passionate worship, biblical truth, and growing together in unity as we serve our community and reflect Christ’s love.

Our Core Beliefs

The Word
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, written by men under the direction of the Holy Ghost. It is the ultimate authority for truth & salvation, and it reveals God’s plan and purpose for all people. We strive to live according to its teachings in every part of our lives.

God
We believe in one true and living God, holy and all-powerful, revealed fully in Jesus Christ. The fullness of the Godhead dwells in Him—Father in creation, Son in redemption, and Holy Ghost in regeneration. We worship Him as Lord and Savior, and believe His name is above every name. (Colossians 2:9)
Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:4

Baptism
We believe in baptism by full immersion in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. Through baptism, we identify with His death, burial, and resurrection.
Scripture: Romans 6:3-6; Colossians 2:11-14; Acts 2:38.

The Holy Spirit
We believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost, with the first evidence being speaking in other tongues. This promise is for every believer and brings power, guidance, and a deeper relationship with God.
Scripture: Acts 2:4

HEALING
We believe that divine healing is provided for in the atonement of Jesus Christ and is available to all believers today. Through faith in His name, prayer, and the laying on of hands, God heals physical, emotional, and spiritual sickness. We trust God’s promises and seek His healing in every area of our lives.
Scripture: Isaiah 53:5; James 5:14-15

SIN & SALVATION
We believe all have sinned and need salvation. Through faith, repentance, water baptism in Jesus’ name, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost, we are forgiven, made new, and given the hope of eternal life.
Scripture: Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; John 3:5; Acts 2:38.
CHRISTIAN LIVING
We believe that Christian living means walking daily in obedience to God’s Word and being led by the Holy Ghost. It involves living a holy and separated life, reflecting the character of Jesus through love, humility, and service to others. As believers, we are called to grow in faith, continually seek God’s guidance, and share the Gospel with boldness. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we overcome sin and live victorious lives that bring glory to God.
Scripture: Romans 12:1–2; Galatians 5:16–25; 1 Peter 1:15–16; Acts 1:8
HEAVEN & HELL
We believe Heaven is a real, eternal place prepared by God for all who accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. It is described in Scripture as a place of joy, peace, and fellowship with God. Hell is also a real and eternal place of separation from God, reserved for those who reject His salvation . The Bible calls us to share the Gospel so that all may receive eternal life and avoid eternal judgment.
Scripture: John 14:2–3; Revelation 21:4; Matthew 25:46; Revelation 20:15
